This drypoint engraving was created on clear acrylic and printed using Itaglio Carbon Black Ink on Fabriano Rosaspina White 220g. The image is an etched drawing of the first image I saw of my unborn baby, nicknamed "Pip".
An edition of 10 prints, 'Pip' was created using a tiny 3D printed press, from Germany based Open Press Project and submitted to their 2023 Open Print Exchange.
I discovered the brilliant mini printing presses during a Drypoint Printing workshop at Sussex Prairie Gardens, with artist Sarah Cliff. The Open Press Project is a wonderful innovation from design duo, Martin Schneider and Dominik Schmitz, that gives artists all over the world affordable access to trying a printing press at home.

Pip will be featured in the Open Print Exchange catalogue and exhibited in Cologne and Sydney later this year as part of a touring exhibition, whilst nine of the prints will be exchanged with fellow artists from around the world. It's a beautiful thing to know Pip is making their mark on the world already.
